Colossal Finance

─── THE FIRM / PEOPLE

The people doing the work.

A deliberately small team. Senior attention on every engagement. The people you meet in the first conversation are the people running the work.

─── LEADERSHIP

Co-founders. Active on every Gold engagement.

Rupert McLean, Co-Founder and CEO of Colossal Finance

RUPERT MCLEAN

CO-FOUNDER & CEO

Rupert holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne with majors in Finance and Accounting. He began his career in M&A and Corporate Advisory, working alongside major Australian organisations on acquisitions, divestments, and strategic capital decisions. He later moved into the technology sector, where he led the sales function at a high-growth business and developed the operational mindset that now underpins Colossal's approach.

As Co-Founder and CEO, Rupert leads firm strategy, technology, and growth. His thesis — that Australian commercial lending was over-banked and under-advised — became the foundation of Colossal Finance. The firm's positioning, 'Modern Lending. Old School Relationships,' reflects that thinking: institutional-quality advisory delivered through relationships that compound over decades.

He is responsible for the firm's technology infrastructure, lender relationships, and the operating systems that allow Colossal to deliver execution speed without compromising structural sophistication. His clients tend to be acquisitive operators, founders scaling complex businesses, and family offices.

Hunter Silk, Co-Founder and Director of Colossal Finance

HUNTER SILK

CO-FOUNDER & DIRECTOR

CAFBA Rising Star Shortlist, 2024

Hunter began his career in property finance, working across complex commercial transactions in some of Australia's most active development markets. The pattern he saw across hundreds of deals — that capital structure decisions consistently mattered more than rate decisions — became the founding thesis of Colossal Finance.

As Co-Founder and Director, Hunter leads the firm's advisory practice. His sector specialisation runs across property and development, construction, family business, and complex multi-entity arrangements. He's been recognised within the industry as a 2024 CAFBA Rising Star shortlistee, and is the lead advisor on the majority of Colossal Gold engagements.

His approach is unapologetically long-term. Most of his client relationships begin years before the first transaction and extend well beyond it — a model that, in his view, is the only honest way to advise on capital.

─── THE TEAM

Operations and execution.

Ling Xiang, Client Services Manager and Executive Assistant at Colossal Finance

LING XIANG

CLIENT SERVICES MANAGER & EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Ling leads the client services function at Colossal Finance, having worked alongside some of the industry's most experienced commercial finance professionals throughout her career. She is responsible for ensuring every transaction moves smoothly from initial engagement through to settlement — the operational discipline that allows the advisory team to focus on structure and strategy.

In addition to leading client services, Ling serves as Executive Assistant to Rupert and Hunter. The combined role gives her unusual visibility across the firm: the operational state of every active transaction, the relationship cadence with every active client, and the calendar discipline that keeps senior advisor time focused where it matters most.

Her reputation across the firm and the lender network is for calm, precise execution. When deals move quickly — and they often do — Ling is the reason nothing is missed.

Will Maisano, Account Manager at Colossal Finance

WILL MAISANO

ACCOUNT MANAGER

Will joined Colossal Finance as an Account Manager while completing his Bachelor of Business at RMIT. He supports the advisory team across transaction execution and client relationship management, with primary responsibility for the firm's Blue engagement workflow — the high-volume, fast-turnaround execution work that runs in parallel to the Gold advisory practice.

His remit covers asset finance, commercial lending, and working capital facilities, working closely with both the founding partners and the firm's lender network. He represents the next generation of commercial finance professional that Colossal is investing in — sharp, technically curious, and trained from day one in the structural-first methodology the firm operates under.
